Last updated: 19 May 2026
Larissa Shaw Hypnotherapy ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we keep it safe, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Who we are
Larissa Shaw Hypnotherapy is a hypnotherapy and coaching practice based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, operated by Larissa Shaw. You can contact us at hello@larissashaw.com.au.
The information we collect
We may collect the following kinds of personal information:
- Contact details — your name, email address, phone number, and any information you choose to include in messages you send us (e.g. via the website contact form or by email).
- Session information — health, lifestyle and personal background information that you share during a consultation or session, where relevant to the care we provide.
- Technical information — basic data automatically logged when you visit our website, such as your IP address, browser type, referring page and the pages you view. This is used in aggregate for security and to understand how the site is used.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to enquiries and arrange appointments;
- Deliver hypnotherapy, coaching and EFT sessions tailored to your needs;
- Keep accurate session notes and records as required for professional practice;
- Send appointment confirmations, reminders or follow-up information;
- Improve our website, services and client experience;
- Meet our legal, professional and insurance obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.
Confidentiality of sessions
Information shared during a hypnotherapy, coaching or EFT session is treated as strictly confidential. We will not disclose your session content to any third party without your written consent, unless we are required to do so by law (for example, where there is a serious and imminent risk to your safety or the safety of others, or in response to a lawful court order or subpoena).
Third-party services we use
We use a small number of trusted third-party providers to help operate this website and our practice. These providers may process limited personal information on our behalf:
- Cloudflare — hosts this website and provides our contact form's spam-protection (Turnstile). Cloudflare may process basic technical information such as your IP address.
- Postmark — delivers transactional emails (for example, the message you send via the contact form). Postmark processes the name, email and message you submit.
These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and security obligations. We only share the minimum information needed to deliver the service.
Cookies
This website does not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies. Any cookies set are strictly necessary for the site to function (for example, to remember a form submission's success state). Your browser settings allow you to block or delete cookies at any time.
How we store and protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes secure storage of digital records, use of reputable service providers, and limiting access to authorised personnel only. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to use industry-standard safeguards.
How long we keep your information
We keep client records for as long as is reasonably necessary to provide our services and to meet our professional, legal, tax and insurance obligations. Where information is no longer needed, it is securely destroyed or de-identified.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- Ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or out of date;
- Withdraw your consent to receive non-essential communications from us;
- Make a complaint about how we have handled your personal information.
To make any of these requests, please email hello@larissashaw.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
